Wychwood Baptist Church

A simplified website ...

Given the current pandemic, ministry is different.  Activities and events where we can physically be together are either on hold or limited.  Some have been replaced by online (mainly Zoom) meetings instead.

We have simplified our website, removing many of the previous menu links.  Rather than  spend time searching different tabs, this page summarises what is on offer, with links to various online meetings.  It also includes other resources which you may find helpful.  It covers Pastoral & Practical Care, Sunday Services, Prayer & DevotionsRegular Activities & Events, and Other Resources.

WBC continues to offer Pastoral & Practical Care.  Our Pastor is available via phone, email, video call, or even a 'socially distant' outdoors meet.  As a church we are looking out for one another by small groups keeping in regular contact - we'd be happy to add you to a group if that would help.  These are difficult days, don't be afraid to ask for help!

We are also offering practical support, such as food or pharmacy collections & deliveries.  We also work with Chipping Norton Foodbank, so let us know if you find yourself in need. Or, should you wish to donate you can drop off in our church porch, or arrange for us to come and collect.

We would love you to join us on a Sunday, (10:15, for 10:30am) via Zoom.

During the current lockdown we have taken the decision to only meet on Zoom for the time being.  This will be reviewed in February.

Whilst we would naturally love to be physically meeting together, our services have the benefit in allowing for interaction and singing together.

Each Sunday we spend time in praise and worship, exploring the bible together.  Join from 10.15 for chat prior to our starting the service at 10.30am.

You'd be most welcome to join us.  Here are the connection details:

Just looking?

Maybe you're just looking, and the idea of being seen on a Zoom call is the last thing you'd want.  We know many people are taking the opportunity of churches being online to take a look in the comfort of their own homes.  You can still do that with Zoom!  Just log in with your mic muted and your video turned off.

Keen to connect, but at a different time?

Our services are not currently recorded, so here are some suggestions of churches we have a connection with:

 Burford Church

Burford are part of our Gospel Partnership.  Each Sunday they livestream their 'JAM' Children's ministry at 9.30am, followed by their Sunday service at 10am.  These are then made available shortly afterwards.

To access their services, Click Here

 Magdalen Road

Another church we have links with is Magdalen Road in Oxford, who have supported us with visiting speakers when needed.  Their livestream takes place at 10.30 on Sundays, and is made available shortly afterwards.

Monthly, 7pm

Prayer is a key element of our Sunday gathering, but we also have a monthly prayer meeting over Zoom.  Our next meeting is 11th January.

Whilst we are limited in being able to physically meet each Friday, we do still have opportunities to meet, virtually or otherwise!

Virtual Cafe (Fridays, 10.30-11.30am)

Each Friday, in place of our regular cafe, why not grab a cuppa and a slice of cake, and join on Zoom with others from the community for a good old chin wag!

N-Gage Youth Club  (Fridays, 6.30 - 7.30pm)

Those in school years 7-11 continue to meet on Fridays, typically but not always over Zoom.  During the pandemic we have, when permitted, met when practical.

At present, we are meeting every couple of weeks over Zoom.  Our next meeting is a Murder Mystery event, and takes place on 12th  February.

Perhaps this time has got you personally, or has caused others you know to spend more time thinking about God, who he is, and maybe even where he is in the midst of a pandemic like COVID.  Here is one resources which may help.

Where is God in a Coronavirus World?

John Lennox is a mathematician, philosopher of science and Christian apologist. He is Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford and an Emeritus Fellow in Mathematics and Philosophy of Science at Green Templeton College, Oxford University.

In this book, Professor Lennox addresses how belief in a loving and sovereign God helps us to make sense of and cope with the coronavirus outbreak.
